Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the NCLEX-RN® exam, Pearson Vue test day, our practice questions, and how RN Clarity is built.
What is the NCLEX-RN?
The NCLEX-RN is a licensure examination that assesses whether a candidate can practise safely as an entry-level registered nurse. NCSBN develops the examination; Pearson delivers it. Eligibility and licensing requirements are set by your nursing regulatory body.Read the official guidance
How long is the NCLEX-RN, and how is it scored?
The exam has 85–150 items and allows up to five hours, including breaks. It uses Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) to estimate ability against a passing standard. It can stop under the confidence-interval, maximum-length or time-limit rule. Your result is pass or fail; it is not based on a fixed percentage correct.Read the official guidance
Which test plan and content areas should I study?
The 2026 NCLEX-RN Test Plan applies from April 2026 through March 2029. RN Clarity groups practice into the four broad Client Needs categories and their content areas. Use the NCLEX-RN Hub for the current blueprint and the official test plan for the complete category definitions.Read the official guidance
What are Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) items?
NGN questions assess clinical judgment. The exam includes three six-item case studies (18 items) plus standalone clinical-judgment items, approximately 10% depending on exam length. Cases follow six steps: recognize cues, analyze cues, prioritize hypotheses, generate solutions, take action and evaluate outcomes.Read the official guidance
What is included in RN Clarity’s question libraries?
The main Question Bank contains 3,333 questions. Separately, the NGN library contains 250 case studies with six items each (1,500 case-linked items) and 500 standalone NGN items. The NGN total is 2,000 items; these are not another 2,000 case studies. Every paid plan includes the full Question Bank and both NGN libraries, subject to its daily usage allowance.Open the related page
Are these real NCLEX exam questions?
No. RN Clarity provides original educational practice content, not confidential examination questions. RN Clarity is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NCSBN.Open the related page
What does the Weakness Map show?
The Weakness Map uses your recorded practice results to help you spot topics that need attention and open focused practice. It becomes more useful as you answer more questions. A weak-area label describes your practice evidence, not your ability to care for a real patient or your final exam result.Open the related page
Do assessment or mock scores predict whether I will pass?
No. These scores describe your performance on RN Clarity practice items. Use them alongside your topic coverage and recent mistakes to decide what to study next. They are not a validated probability of passing the NCLEX and do not guarantee an exam outcome.Open the related page
How do the paid plans differ?
All paid plans include the full 3,333-question bank, 250 NGN cases, 500 standalone NGN items and the separate CAT-style Adaptive Exam Simulator. Monthly: 200 questions and 50 AI Tutor messages per day, 5 fixed-form full mocks and 25 snack mocks. 90 Days: 300 questions and 60 messages per day, 10 full mocks and 50 snack mocks. 180 Days: 500 questions and 75 messages per day, all 15 full mocks and 50 snack mocks. Yearly: unlimited daily questions and 100 messages per day, all 65 fixed-form mocks. The simulator uses RN Clarity's practice calibration, not the official NCLEX scoring engine. Can I get a refund?
RN Clarity study plans have a 10-day money-back guarantee. During that window, check Settings > Subscription for a self-service refund or contact Support under Billing with your order email and purchased plan. A full refund ends paid access. Read the Refund Policy for current terms; Bookstore purchases have separate terms.Open the related page
Will my study data sync across devices?
Sign in to the same account to access submitted practice results and saved study progress on another device. Free accounts allow up to two registered devices; Monthly and 90 Days allow four; 180 Days and Yearly allow five. Unsaved answers or local drafts may stay on the current device. An internet connection is needed to load new questions and sync results.Open the related page
How do I report a question or technical problem?
Use Report content issue beside the question, or open Support. Include the question ID or page link, what happened and the answer or wording you want us to check. For a technical problem, include your device and browser. Avoid sharing patient-identifying information.Open the related page
What can I try for free?
You can try a 10-question diagnostic without signing in. A free account offers a limited practice preview and five AI Tutor messages per day. It does not unlock the paid bank, NGN libraries or mock catalogue. Your current access and limits are shown in your account and on Pricing.Open the related page
What do Not started, Missed before, Correct before and Mastered mean?
Not started means no submitted answer; bookmarking alone does not count. Missed before and Correct before follow your most recent answer. Mastered means your last two attempts were correct and at least seven days apart. Bookmarked shows questions you saved. Choose a filter, then a category and topic to practise the matching questions.Open the related page
Are the mocks CAT exams?
RN Clarity has 15 full-length and 50 snack-size fixed-form practice mocks. They do not adapt like the real NCLEX. A separate CAT-style Adaptive Exam Simulator is included in each paid plan; it uses RN Clarity practice difficulty and does not use the NCLEX's official calibration or predict a pass. Read each start screen for item count, timing and break rules.Open the related page
How do I use the AI Tutor?
Open the Tutor beside a practice question to ask about its reasoning, or use AI Tutor from the dashboard for general study questions. Daily message limits depend on your plan. AI can make mistakes: compare explanations with the question rationale and cited sources. It is a study aid, not a clinical decision tool.Open the related page
Are bookstore books included in a study plan?
The Bookstore is a separate collection of nursing books. Browse book descriptions and sample pages before buying. Book purchases are separate from your NCLEX study subscription unless a specific offer explicitly includes them.Open the related page
Can I use RN Clarity on my phone?
Yes. Use RN Clarity in a modern mobile browser. You can also add the website to your home screen for app-style access. Use the same sign-in to reach your saved progress. Keep an internet connection for new content, AI Tutor and result syncing.Open the related page
Where can I see a question’s sources?
Open the explanation after answering a question to see its rationale and references. Source citations help you explore the supporting guidance; they do not mean an item is an official NCLEX question. Use Report content issue if a reference is broken or does not support the explanation.Open the related page
